I was told last night that I am an 11 in yogic numerology based on my birthday, October 29, and that 11 in yogic numerology differs from western. This was all I was told as the young lady who told me this disappeared before she could tell me what 11 means. Can anyone help me out here?

Re: yogic numerology
Mon, January 31, 2005 - 3:29 AMCant say I know anyrthing about yogic numerology . . . but I do know 11 as a number well . . though not much form a psycological perspective.
11 is a master number : High spiritual plane, intuitive, illumination, idealist, a dreamer
The Torch (my project) was born on the 11th of the 11th . . so I have investigated this number quite a bit from a mathemagical perspective :-)
Surfed a little and found this threat on the meaning of 11 from a psychological perspective: www.psy-center.com/ftopict-213.html seems this lass knows what she is talking about (2nd post down) . . . -

Re: yogic numerology
Mon, May 8, 2006 - 1:11 AMOnly a year or so after the fact! In yogic numerology the placement of the number is as important as what the number is. In your case, 11 is your soul number. Your soul number is your inner self and is part of what drives you. It is also a position with challenges so if you really want to know who someone is, look to their soul number. The negative of 11 is a scattered focus and a tendency to be pulled into maya, illusion, and forget why you are really here. The positive of 11 is mastery and abundance, being a beacon to all. 11 in the soul position is about the higher road, living a life of integrity, vision and commitment to a grea cause. If the higher road is not being followed, it can cause a person great distress and conflict especially in the area of relationships. Good luck : ) -

Re: yogic numerology
Tue, May 9, 2006 - 6:19 AMIn classic Indian thought the number 11 correlates to the "Rudras", very strong and having the power of transformation. You can search this and get lots more info.
Torch fits into the Rudra category nicely.

Re: yogic numerology
Fri, May 26, 2006 - 4:57 AMI just joined 'my tribe' to reply to this!
Just got a book from library called 'Kundalini - the essence of yoga'.
This discusses yogic numerology.
The system described in this book doesn't use birthday and month together. However, it does use birthday, month and year - what year were you born? You add up all the digits e.g. 01/01/1990 = 1+1+1+9+9 = 21. If this number is more than 11, then you add the digits again, = 3.
Reply to my e-mail since I may not check back here again.
Yes, 11 is pretty cool - "Your path in this lifetime is to be a living demonstration of conscious collaboration with God..."

Re: yogic numerology
Sat, May 27, 2006 - 1:56 PMJust remember thought that the fact that it is 2006 is a christian gregorian year, and the months and their prsent numbering also relates to the christian church, as well as the days of the month. Traditionally, october was the 8th (octa) month and november was the ninth (nava) month and december was the 10th (deca) month which actually more appropriately correspponds to solar months in the yogic system.
On top of that, in the yogic texts, the primary date keeping is not based on solar months with randomly designated days based on months that dont have a stellar basis. The yogic texts base the date on the sign (in the lunar zodiac of 27 nakshatras) that the Moon is being occupied by as well as the moon phase (called a tithi). So, for example, the date today would be Saturday (days of week are the same), Rohini (which is taurus) in the pratipat tithi (first day of the waxing Moon). Saturnday coorelates to Saturn, Rohini correlates to the number 4, while the phase is 1. if one wanted to ad a month (which is hidden in the sign phase correlation-since only certain phases fall in certain signs at specific times of the year, then the solar month would be based on the position of the Sun.
Standard yogic texts and puranas use this type of dating. The tantric texts (like the kalachakra tantra) even go into being able to tell the date based on your breathing pattern: when the Moon is in a certain signs the inhale will be more to the outside of the nostril or inside of the nostril, etc.
All classic festivals and sacred days in yoga are based upon this dating. for example the waning fourteenth phase of the Moon is called Siva Ratri (or Shivas night), the fourteenth phase is the day before the new moon. The waning 14th while the Sun is in Capricorn is called MahaSiva Ratri, and you ar supposed to stay up all night in meditation on the eternal self.
So my point is any system that uses gregorian dates has only been around for the last hundred years or less. Yoga has specific meanings to each of the numbers, but there dirivation is not traditionally done by a christian calendar date.
Blessings
