The number 108 is seen as sacred in many different cultures.

The Kanjur is a major section of the Tibetan Buddhist Canon, consisting of the words of the Buddha, attributed directly to Shakyamuni. It is collected in 108 volumes.

The number 108 is used in Islam to refer to God.

In the Krishna tradition, there were said to be 108 gopis or maid servants of Krishna.

108 is said to refer to the number of Hindu deities. Each of the deities has 108 names.

The Vedanta, according to the Hinduist tradition, recognizes 108 authentic doctrines (Upanishad) aiming to approach the Truth and to destroy ignorance.

In the Jain religion, 108 is the number of combined virtues in the five categories of the holy ones, 12 + 8 + 36 + 25 + 27 virtues respectively = 108

The chakras are the intersections of all the energy lines of the subtle bodies. There are a total of 108 energy lines converging to form the heart chakra. One of them, sushumna leads to the crown chakra, and is said to be the path to Self-realization.

Marmas or marmastanas are like the energy intersections called chakras, except they have fewer energy lines converging to form them. There are 108 marmas in the subtle bodies.

        from Mayan Shaman Quetza Sha:

        >>>It is important in this new time the activation of the 108 Mayan dimensions for the continuation of the new solar race. This information was left behind in the Mayan temples specifically for the new millenium.
        ......................
The process is micro and macro cellular process from the etheric, auric and astral minds. Our bodies and our minds are alive in other dimensions. The Mayans speak of the 108 dimensions because they don't talk about the evolution of the internal being but your dimensional and galactic self. They speak of the creation of the solar system because human beings have the capacity to transform themselves into gods who can create in other dimensional when their hearts are open. This how the geometry is born that creates the forms physically and dimensionally like the oceans, mountains and everything else that science has not been able to answer. The mathematics Mayan is an astral language of the spirit that explains the codes of the sacred sites.<<<<
